Mathematics
BSc, MSc and Vedic Mathematics
The Mathematics programmes (BSc and MSc) at NRI School of Science, Humanities and Management are designed to provide students with a strong theoretical and analytical foundation in mathematics while developing the problem-solving and quantitative skills required for modern scientific and technological fields. These programmes prepare students for careers in academia, research, technology, data analysis, finance, and education.
The BSc in Mathematics focuses on building fundamental knowledge in core mathematical areas such as algebra, calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, and statistics. Through systematic learning and guided practice, students develop logical reasoning, analytical thinking, and computational skills that support studies in engineering, computer science, economics, and other scientific disciplines.
The MSc in Mathematics offers advanced study in both pure and applied mathematics. Students explore higher-level topics such as advanced algebra, real and complex analysis, mathematical modelling, numerical methods, and applied statistics. The programme emphasizes research orientation, critical thinking, and the application of mathematical theories to real-world problems in science, technology, and industry.
Teaching in both programmes combines conceptual learning, problem-solving sessions, seminars, and research-based activities. Faculty members guide students to develop a deep understanding of mathematical principles and encourage them to apply these concepts in practical and interdisciplinary contexts.
Vedic Mathematics
At NRI School of Science, Humanities and Management, Vedic Mathematics is introduced as an additional learning approach to enhance students’ numerical ability and calculation speed. Based on ancient Indian mathematical principles, Vedic Mathematics uses simple formulas (sutras) and mental techniques to perform calculations quickly and efficiently.
These methods help students improve mental arithmetic, concentration, accuracy, and confidence in solving mathematical problems. Vedic Mathematics also makes learning mathematics more engaging and interactive by presenting innovative and simplified approaches to complex calculations.
By integrating traditional mathematical wisdom with modern mathematical education, the college aims to strengthen students’ quantitative skills and encourage creative and efficient problem-solving techniques.
